Italia in miniatura is an amusement park, inaugurated in 1970, that, rather than action games, proposes the scale reproductions of Italian and European monuments.
The main attraction of the park is the pathway amidst the reproductions representing the main Italian and European monuments. This area occupies 85,000 m², and it is decorated with 10.000 plants, most of them are Bonsai tree. The pathway is funny and also educational, because it allows to explore the cultural wealth Italy and Europe, through beyond 273 perfect scale reproductions of architectural masterpieces and nature wonders.
The first reproduction was that of Sant'Apollinare in Classe (a church near Ravenna), and slowly it was flanked by the Church of Saint Peter, the Cathedral of Milan, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and all the most famous Italian monuments. Later on, they have been added also European monuments, like the Eiffel Tower and the cathedral of Saint Paul of London.
In a space of 6.600 m² 1:5 there is the reproduction of the Canal Grande in Venice, where you can go by boat: it is one of the most evocative and charming areas of the park.
In the park there are also other attractions, besides kiosks, restaurants, picnic areas and stores.
